Alumni Recognition Award

Udoka Obiora ’12 Wins the 2024 Alumni Recognition Award

This year’s 2024 recipient of the Alumni Recognition Award is Udoka Obiora ’12. This prestigious honor, now in its 13th year, is awarded to alumni who have demonstrated outstanding commitment not only to BTA but also to serving the broader Boston community and our world. This award reflects that a Boston Trinity Academy education prepares students for leadership and service in college and beyond.

Udoka’s journey at BTA began in 7th grade in 2006, and he quickly became an integral part of our community. By his senior year, he was captain of our league-champion Varsity Boys’ Basketball Team and received the Trustees’ Award for being the most improved high school student. His post-BTA achievements include graduating Magna Cum Laude from Gordon College with a double major in Accounting and Finance, playing on the college’s basketball team, and volunteering with various organizations.

His professional journey began at KPMG, Boston as an Audit Associate, and his continued dedication to service and excellence makes him a deserving recipient of this award. Currently, Udoka serves as a Mergers & Acquisition Advisory Manager at RSM, the fifth largest assurance, tax and consulting firm in the U.S, where he assesses the risks of financial transactions in potential private equity deals.

He is also a founder of Black Finance and Accounting Professionals of Massachusetts (BFAM), a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering a community that supports black professionals and allies, through shared resources, knowledge, and networks. BFAM has partnered with leading organizations in Boston, such as RSM US LLP, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, EY, and MassCPAs, to equip and empower black professionals with the resources and networks needed to advance in their careers. BFAM has already made a significant impact within the Boston community, collaborating and empowering organizations such as Friends of the Children Boston, a Boston-based non-profit that seeks to impact generational change by empowering youth in Boston.

In addition to his many achievements, Udoka has served on the board at BTA and remains an integral member of the school. His commitment to excellence and service exemplifies the values of Faith, Integrity, and Service, and we are honored to recognize him among our esteemed alumni.
