Fair Trade Educational Initiatives

Boston College invited ten BTA student-interns on December 2nd to speak about their original research on Principles and Accessibility of Fair Trade in Boston, an ongoing research and advocacy project through the Trinity Institute. With more than 30 Boston College students and faculty members in the audience, BTA students spoke passionately and knowledgably about fundamental Fair Trade principles, dispelled misconceptions about Fair Trade vs. Free Trade, and related Fair Trade to personal experiences and impact on people they knew. This formal presentation was followed by a poster presentation at the BC Fair Trade Holiday Sale on December 10th, 2010. At this event, BTA students hosted an educational booth to raise awareness about Fair Trade among holiday shoppers.

BTA interns took part in mobilizing Boston to become a Fair Trade city at Boston's City Hall.  (BTA students are featured in the photo of "Boston, MA Fair Trade Town #20")

BTA students are mentioned in a BC article on their Fair Trade initiatives.
